i just can’t tell you how much i love the idea of fury and shield thinking that, out of all of the avengers, tony is gonna be the one that gives them the most trouble. the guy’s been up to his eyeballs in scandals for most of his adult life, he’s always giving snarky answers to reporters and loves messing with them, and with his history of public nudity…. let’s just say nick and phil are being treated for high blood pressure before the initiative is even active.

at least they’ll have captain america, good old steve to keep things calm and rational, lovely golden boy stevie rogers.

except that, well, one; tony and pepper have been dealing with tony’s publicity for years now – not only that, but tony doesn’t actually get into that may ‘scandles’ or whatever now that he’s iron man, aside from a few things involving pissy journalists who love to twist his words, so shield don’t really need to do anything other than maybe lend a hand every now and then if pepper asks, and two; steven grant rogers is a little shit.

because this is steve rogers that they got, not just captain america. this is the punk little fucker from brooklyn who used to pick fights with six guys three times his size for even thinking about looking at a girl the wrong way. and sure, back then, steve had bucky to (attempt to) pull him out of most of those fights, or at least throw punches that would actually do more than split steve’s knuckles, but he doesn’t now. no more back up for stevie.

except stevie doesn’t need backup now, the other guys do, because little stevie is now big stevie, who can crack a guy’s sternum without even really trying, and can continue beating people up for hours before he even has to start thinking about needing to catch his breath.

that little punk bitch from brooklyn is now that big punk bitch from brooklyn, and he may have the title of captain america now, but that doesn’t stop him from throwing down if he thinks some kind of injustice is happening. if anything, being captain america makes it so much better for steve, cause the thing is, it’s the future and gay people have rights but not really, still getting beaten up and killed, black people are treated a lot better except they’re really really now, people are actually debating whether or not vaccines are bad, and all sorts of crap that steve has never stood for, but now he has a platform, an influence, a title that people respect and are gonna goddamn listen to, and steve is absolutely gonna use that to his advantage.

so suprise suprise, what shield has to deal with isn’t tony stark getting drunk and naked in a public fountain somewhere, it’s golden boy captain america shutting a reporter the fuck down about ‘autism vaccines’ on live tv, it’s shield trying to control the wage-strike that’s taking place across almost all major factories and finding ol’ cap right smack bang in the middle of it because he’d been on his way to pick up some more drawing supplies, seen the crowds, and immediately picked up a sign because ‘these workers are being paid what now?’ and keeps the strike going for almost another three days (“people can’t afford to live on this kind of pay in this economy- oh don’t give me any of that crap, look at stark industries; none of their employees are striking because they’re being good fucking employers and paying people what they need.”) it’s bsolute angel steve rogers starting a full on brawl fight in a bar at 3am because some guy thought it would be cool to slap a gal’s ass.

tony stark’s possibly exposed dick is the least of their problems when they’ve got hd-video of captain america punching a reporter on the six o’clock news for talking shit about gay people.

steve rogers is the big fuck-off headache that shield never predicted, but totally could’ve if they’d simply done their research instead of just going with the perfect hero legends (or just looking at steves criminal record instead of permanently sealing it)
